Peggy and I decided to go somewhere new with a long but not too
taxing walk possible. We settled on Lafayette Reservoir, where we did
the shorter loop around the lake (ca. 2.7 miles). Best birds were a
cleary intergrade NORTHERN FLICKER (south side of lake), a lone female
BROWN-HEADED COWBIRD, a migrant calling PACIFIC-SLOPE FLYCATCHER, and
a ROCK WREN using the slopping cement by the parking lot. Forty-three
species overall at mid-day. We look forward to visiting again when
the Bald Eagle has returned. We were disappointed not to find any
Wood Ducks - anyone know which coves they prefer? Thanks and good
    birding.
