Sunday, the Oakland Bird Club invited me to walk with them around the
Martinez Regional Shoreline. We had a great time seeing 40 species. We
found two male Buffleheads way around the bend downstream from the remains
of the ss Forester. We also had a Lincoln's Sparrow near the pond, Western
Bluebirds and two deer out in the marsh near the abandoned and deteriorating
    lifeboat.

In Walnut Creek's Heather Farm this morning, there was a female Bufflehead
in the large, mostly natural pond. There were 23 Killdeer on the north ball
field and about 100 Rock Pigeons on the south ball field mixed with 23
Brewer's Blackbirds. Between the equestrian and the riparian areas, I found
a small flock of about 20 mostly White-crowned and some Golden-crowned
Sparrows. In with them were one very dull American Goldfinch and a
    tan-striped White-throated Sparrow.
