Just had my first Northern Flicker of the season (coastal areas anyway) in the copse of trees outside my office at Kaiser Pinole. Yesterday, there was a Nuttall's in the same spot. Yesterday there was also a shrieking Cooper's Hawk flying around the area, giving an excellent display of sound and sight details that distinguish it from a Sharpie (head size, wing posture and wingbeats in this case). Every morning seems to be filled with the bustling activity of migration nowadays!
