    Yesterday afternoon, 9/13, I found the Loggerhead Shrike that was mentioned in an earlier report by the Quarry Staging Area. Also notable, were two Pacific-slope Flycatchers in the oaks at the visitor center picnic area.  
    In the marsh, in the late after noon, two Soras, two Virginia Rails and three Common Moorhens were observed.  The Moorhens were in a family group of two adults and one juvenile.  All the birds were seen in the marsh area along Chochenyo trail past the boardwalk and before it intersects with the Dust trail.
    It has been my experience that this is a good time of year to find Soras and Virginia Rails.  They seem to like the area between the receding water and the cattails.
