Around 9:30 am, Thursday, 30 Sept 2009, birds in our back yard trees started up a loud chorus of alarm cries as we were brushing our hair on the back porch. I moved over to get a better look in the trees, when suddenly a pair of Cooper's Hawks flew around the northernmost of the line of conifers which separates the yards of McGee Ave and Roosevelt lots between Allston and Bancroft. Soon after, the songbird chatter died down.

The hawks were clearly beautiful, textbook examples with rounded tails, clearly visible banding, etc. Very nice.

Marsha Feinland saw a pair on the Cal campus near the Eucalyptus Grove by VLSB on Saturday.
