[EBB Sightings] Hayward Shoreline, ALA Co. - W.Winton to Hwy 92 - 29 Aug.'09

Greetings EBB'ers, 

Saturday, 29 August found the Ohlone Audubon Society Trip participants
trekking a four hour shuttled walk from the West Winton EBRPD parking area
to the Hayward Shoreline Interpretive Center. 

Clear warm weather would have been much hotter without the light breeze.
?The Bay was quite calm. ?Bird finding resulted in a total of 56 species,
plus more than 8 additional species located by Bob Richmond (B.R.) who also
birded other sections (8 hours), only a short part of which was with our
group. 

Highlights included: 
Eared Grebe - Unusual nester in Bay Area - Found (s=solely) by B.R 
Northern Shoveler - 8 - Unusual nester in Bay Area 
BARROW'S GOLDENEYE - hybrid sp.? - Found (s) by B.R. 
Golden Plover - Flyover sp.? - Found (s) by B.R. 
Snowy Plover - 1 female 
Lesser Yellowlegs - 1 - early migrant 
Wandering Tattler - 1 
Spotted Sandpiper - 1 - Found (s) by B.R. 
Ruddy Turnstone - 4 
Dunlin - 1 - early migrant - Found (s) by B.R. 
Caspian Tern - 1 - late migrant 
Elegant Tern - 1 
Black Tern - 1 - local, rare migrant - Found (s) by B.R. 
Common Murre - 1 - very rare in south Bay (near Visitor Center, HSIC) 
Willow Flycatcher - 3 - uncommon migrant - Found by (s) B.R. 
Pacific-slope Flycatcher - 1 - (+2 found by B.R.) 
Ruby-crowned Kinglet - 1 - early migrant (2.5 weeks) - Found (s) by B.R. 
Orange-crowned Warbler - 2 + 
Yellow Warbler - 2 + 
Wilson's Warbler - 1
