The pair of Burrowing Owls at Ohlone College in Newark had at least two owlets at the burrow this morning 7/13/09 around 7:30. This is the first time I have seen them in my daily drive by. The burrow is right on Cherry Avenue, on the grassy berm about 40 yards from the main entrance to Ohlone College. It is amazing that the Owls successfully fledged their brood given the regular mowning of the grass right over the burrow, and hundreds of walkers, including with dogs, pass within 10 yards of their chosen home.
