[EBB Sightings] Mitchell Canyon Chat Room

This morning the Yellow-breasted Chat sang for 20-25 minutes just a couple 
of hundred yards up from the parking lot.  I stood in the shade of the tree 
just at the top of the first rise, where the trail becomes level.  The Chat 
sang for 20-25 minutes in the trees lining the creek, while I tried in vain 
to actually see it.  It moved left and right, up and down, but never showed 
itself to me.  I never even saw as much as movement of leaves or branches.

This started about 9:15.  It was singing when I arrived there.  I finally 
left when the bird became quiet, walking as far as the intersection just 
beyond the creek crossing.

Thinking breakfast sounded like a good idea, I finally returned towards the 
parking lot.  The Chat was singing again when I came back to the lone tree. 
I waited for maybe another 15 minutes and still could not see it.  He was 
probably hoping to find a mother with whom he could share this beautiful 
day.
