    All,

I led my Palo Alto Adult School birding class to Mitchell Canyon
yesterday. Highlights included no less than 10 HERMIT WARBLERS along
the main trail. They appeared in various places beginning at the Red
Road trail head and up to wheree we turned around. Other birds of
interest were CASSIN'S VIREO, several WESTERN TANAGERS, OLIVE-SIDED
FLYCATCHER, WESTERN WOOD PEWEE, WESTERN KINGBIRD, ASH-THROATED
    FLYCATCHER, SWAINSON'S THRUSH, BLUE-GRAY GNATCATCHER, ORANGE-CROWNED,
WILSON'S and TOWNSEND'S WARBLERS, truck loads of BLACK-HEADED
GROSBEAKS, LAZULI BUNTINGS and an occasional BULLOCK'S ORIOLE. Try
as we did, were not able to relocate the previously reported YB Chat,
or MacGillivray's Warbler. Still, it was a very wonderful, colorful day!
