Not sure if they're common or not, but several American White Pelicans
were in the marsh along 680 near the Benicia toll plaza (McNabney
    Marsh?) yesterday evening.

I also saw some very sad and surprising Red-winged Blackbird
behavior. Apparently a car struck and killed a female blackbird. A
male, I assume its mate, fluttered over it flashing its red wing
patches and calling to it in a frenzied panic. It was heart-wrenching
to see. I knew geese and ducks grew such bonds, but didn't realized
    other birds did as well.
