    Ya shudda been there!

Today was a wonderful day for the Mt. Diablo Audubon field trip to Garin/Dry
Creek Regional Parks. Only 6 birders joined the trip, but they enjoyed
    continuing wondrous sights.

We followed our leader past the pond, down the Dry Creek Trail to the
Tamarack entrance. Along the way we had views of Bullock's Orioles,
Warbling Vireos, Pacific-slope Flycatchers and Black-headed Grosbeaks.

Returning via the High Ridge Loop Trail, we soon found ourselves looking out
at the wonderful vista of the south bay area. Directly below us was a
cemetery, and on the cyclone fence bordering it was a Western Kingbird.
Just a little bit farther on, a Grasshopper Sparrow briefly sat on a dry
fennel, before dropping into the grass.

Just before coming down to the west side of Jordan Pond, the trail makes a
wide horseshoe curve. Flying from flower-to-flower in the thick Wild
Radish, was a magnificent male Calliope Hummingbird. We watched it for
    nearly 5 minutes.

A Heinz variety of 57 species altogether.
