Peggy and I went to Coyote Hills this afternoon; she had never visited
the park before, and I wanted to try for a few of the rarities. We
struck out on most of them, except that the BLACK RAIL called for a
bit around 6:58 pm, just as the ranger was getting ready to be
impatient with us! From our total of 66 species, other interesting
sightings included a GOLDEN EAGLE being harassed by a WHITE-TAILED
KITE (this was in the sky, likely east of the park by a bit), two
WHITE-TAILED KITES involved in a mid-air food exchange (is this a
courtship behavior?), and a HOUSE WREN and an ORANGE-CROWNED WARBLER
    in the Butterfly Garden.

    Good birding,
