Every year when the plum tree blooms in my patio, House Finches and Yellow-rumps feast on the blossoms. As this picture shows, this male has clipped the blossom off for the nectar in its base. The Yellow-rumps do the same, but also hover at blooms...I can only think they are also going for insects.
