[EBB Sightings] Heather Farm in Walnut Creek

We're finally back home from 4 weeks in the sun of rural Chile.  In the 
first 6 days since returning home, I have birded around our Walnut Creek 
neighborhood, including Heather Farm Park.  Tuesday I did some of the 
Berkeley/Richmond shoreline, as well as Lake Merritt, and I am already up to 
72 species for California.  That easily beats the 45 species we saw in 
Chile, though we didn't go to many places except the immediate vicinity of 
Rosita's parents.  We didn't see anything out of the ordinary, nor did we 
see anything we hadn't seen in previous trips.

Anyway, this afternoon, after sitting in the jury waiting room at the 
courthouse until 3:30, I rode my bike through the park.  About 35 gulls were 
on the lawn between the cement pond and the volleyball sand.  Six of them 
were Mew Gulls, the remainder were Ring-billed Gulls.  That was pretty good.
