    Hi all,

I took a quick trip up above Lake Del Valle to look at the snow today.
Along the trail that starts just after the road begins to descend to the
park, birds were pretty scarce, but I was pleased to see a LEWIS'S
WOODPECKER about 50 yards in from the gate. It was being pretty shy, but
I did manage to see it well enough to confirm my first impression. It was
    silent, save for the pecking.

I then looped by Patterson Pass to see if the snowy Sierra were visible
(they were) and saw 5 MOUNTAIN BLUEBIRDS at the 4.98 mile marker, at the
first flat below the pass on the CV side.
