Early this afternoon at New Marsh:

    - Two soras, one somewhat bigger than the other, chasing each other in and out of the reeds

    - A black-crowned night heron dozing in a pile of rushes

    - A resident loggerhead shrike on its favorite perch east of the pond

    - A Say's phoebe hanging out behind a lawnmower

    - A shy Wilson's shipe flying fast across the pond and hurriedly ducking back into the reeds

    (No bittern today)

    On the lake:

    - Three small white geese. Two are Ross's for sure. The third looks like a Ross's x snow goose hybrid.

On the docks by the boathouse:

    - Lots of glaucous-winged gulls, including a darker model that might be a cross with a western gull

    - California, ring-billed, and a few western gulls

    - A curious mew gull that flew to the railing near me to inquire if my camera might be suitable for gulls to eat

My new camera produces better images, but the photographer is still the same, so...for what's worth:
