    Today at the lunch hour, Monday 12/8/08, there were 5-7 WHITE-THROATED SWIFTS circling very high above the quarry parking lot at Coyote Hills. I first spotted a pair while watching a dark morph RED-TAILED HAWK with a very full crop, circling above the parking lot. Upon further inspection of the high sky, there were at least one group of three swifts and at least one additional pair above the main marsh across the paved road.
      SAY'S PHOEBE & a DOWNY WOODPECKER were also seen from the quarry parking lot. I had a LOGGERHEAD SHRIKE in the same parking lot last week, but not today.
