    Dear Birders:

A neighbor of mine frequently reports to me about what she sees in her canyon (in the Berkeley Hills) She's not a birder but her descriptions are always accurate enough so with a little sleuthing in my books -- or an on site visit -- I can identify her visitor. Yesterday she reported a bird at the top of a tall cypress. With her Sibley in hand, none of my suggestions fit. Later she called in triumph to say that it was a perfect match to the drawing of a meadowlark! A meadowlark high in a tall tree -- can this be?!
