[EBB Sightings] LBHE, GRHE, 'n' More

I went to look for, and found, the Little Blue Heron about 5:45pm tonight. I
parked at Chace Ct. off 3rd (closest to the inflatable dam) and walked down
to the next railroad bridge. I also checked out a pond near Niles Canyon
park.

In all there were 6 heron/egret species:

Little Blue Heron
Great Blue Heron -2
Black-crowned Night Herons - 2
Green Herons - 2
Great Egret 1
Snowy Egret -- 7 or so throughout the walk

Also the 2 Spotted Sandpipers, 4 Greater Yellowlegs, 7 or so Common
Mergansers, 7 Black-necked Stilts all together, and the other ducks/grebes.

2 Caspian Terns rested on the big gravel island downstream (towards the
park) from the inflatable dam.

A single American White Pelican appeared towards the end, along with 1 loud
Greylag Goose.

Belted Kingfisher over the pond.

2 Common Yellowthroats, one chasing a Lesser Goldfinch male.

Nice walk, good exercise (not too birdy).
Never did find Dave Weber's Woodducks.

2:30 PM-3:30 PM Saturday afternoon, 8/23:

--Near Old Canyon Road Bridge (east of Mission Blvd.)
Great Blue Heron

4 Pied-billed Grebes
2 Gadwalls
Canada Goose
multiple Black Phoebes and Mallards

--Just below inflatable dam (west of Mission Blvd.)
Little Blue Heron
Snowy Egret
another immature Green Heron (both were visible at same time)
2 Spotted Sandpipers
4 Black-necked Stilts
Killdeer
Ring-billed Gull
Common Merganser snorkeling below waterfall

--Overhead
Red-shouldered Hawk
