While stopping at Pt. Emery this afternoon to look for anything, I met Jim
Scarff who arrived on his bicycle. As I had found only one Western Grebe
and one distant gull, he said he had just seen a young Common Murre north
along the frontage road. He pedaled and I drove to see where he stopped.
Continuing north and turning around at the Sea Breeze, I returned to park at
the spaces near the Ashby Avenue exit (southbound). Walking north from here
a couple of hundred yards, I easily found the young Common Murre just a few
feet offshore. It was paddling gently to keep its head to the wind and its
butt off the beach. Just a little bit north of this point is some kind of a
framework out in the water. I don't think this is the same support for the
long-ago Snoopy on top of his dog house which was out in the water somewhere
along there. Snoopy may actually have been south of Ashby, but those
    memories are distant.
