    Dear EBBers;

    On Sat, July 26th, Judith Dunham (seriously) and I went out to Middle Harbor Reg Park looking for terns. Said terns being found, we spotted a single pale Cackling Goose in a gaggle of Canadas on the way out to the parking lot. It was noticably smaller than the other birds, with a different bill size and head shape.

    eBird reviewer Amy McDonald kindly confirmed the sighting after I went back the next day and took pictures. Amy pointed out that Cackling Geese aren't usually found in Alameda Co. from June to Sept. A post to Penisula-Birding on 7-27-08 from Radio Road/Davit Road in San Mateo Co had one present, as well.

    Middle Harbor EBRP is at the end of Seventh St in Oakland. It's nestled in the middle of the Port of Oakland, and has wonderful views of SF, the cranes of the Port, and many many birds. It can be reached from S980, or from Mandela Parkway if the Maze is backed up.

    Cheers,

    PS. Many thanks, again, to Glen Tepke for help on the ID.
