First Saturday I haven't been at work in a month so took the opportunity to
catch up on the ABY. Started the morning at Cesar Chavez / Berkley Marina
finding the juv. Common Murre north of the northern point of the CC park. I
walked then scanned with scope and walked and scanned finally located the
Common Murre well out in the bay. Later as I walked along the inner harbor I
found the Hermann's Gull near the "Live Bait" shack. The mud flats behind
the Sea breeze had a nice variety of shorebirds, Whimbrel, Least & Western
Sandpipers, Semi-p-plover, Dowitcher. Most of the parking was off-limits
today due to a kite festival.

Next was Middle Harbor Park and many more shorebirds. I've never heard of
the MHP until this weeks report of Elegant Terns so it was a treat to
finally visit. Easily found all the terns but really enjoyed examining the
300 peeps. Finally a Peregrine spoiled my fun scattering shorebirds for
miles. The Peregrine powered over the mud-flats eventually landing on the
third container crane from west to east.
Thanks to all for the reports. Good birding.
