I had just seen what appeared to be a Warbling Vireo from below, when a
passing couple asked me what I saw in the tree underneath which we were
standing. I told them about the vireo, about the Lesser Goldfinches and the
Spotted Sandpiper which they had just missed. But I also told them that I
was really hoping to find a Yellow Warbler. It wasn't working.

As I rode around the park listening and looking, I also re-found some
White-throated Swifts which have been present sporadically the last couple
of weeks. Then I re-found the Spotted Sandpiper on the gravel "beach" near
the wooden railing of the large, mostly natural pond. Also present there
were two Song Sparrows, an adult and a begging fledgling.

After a loop to the entrance of the 7 Hills School, I was near the entrance
of the corporation yard just west of the dog park area. A sweet song came
from the oak trees just to the left of the entrance. I parked my bike and
waited, but the bird did not come to the outside of the tree. Then two city
pick-ups entered the yard, but the song continued. Finally, I walked
underneath the overhanging branches and looked up into the tree. Quickly I
saw some movement, then the bright yellow color and the red streaks of an
adult Yellow Warbler. He sang as he foraged. Eventually he was joined in
the tree by an Oak Titmouse and a White-breasted Nuthatch.

Very cool for a hot day.
