    Seen at the shoreline today:

American White Pelican - 3 sen flying near the interpretive center. This is only the 4th may record I have for the shoreline.

Pectoral Sandpiper - 1 seen in Hayward Marsh. While this marsh has no public access, part or it can be seen from the public trails. It was seen on the island where the Least Terns nest. This island is seen from the southeast corner of the loop trail in Cogswell Marsh. This is only the third one I have seen in spring at the shoreline. All are from 5-15 to 5-20.

Red Phalarope - 1 seen in Hayward Marsh, near where the Pectoral Sandpiper was seen.

Least Terns - 45 seen at the mouth of San Lorenzo Creek after 5:00 PM.

Black Tern - 4 in Hayward Marsh on another island in the pond where the Least Terns nest. They were also seen flying around.

Ash-throated Flycatcher - 1 at Winton Ave. I only have seen them later in the spring at the shoreline 5 times.

Western Kingbird - 1 seen near the trees along Frank's Dump East after 6:30 PM.

Swainson's Thrush - 11, all seen after 6:30 PM. Most were in the trees along Frank's Dump East. Others were in the trees along Winton across Winton Ave. from the park office and the trees arounf the parking lot.

Yellow Warbler - 2 or 3. I have 25 spring records and 293 fall records from the shoreline.

Western Tanager - 1 seen after 6:30 PM across Winton Ave from the park office.

Golden-crowned Sparrow - 1 in the trees directly across Winton Ave. from the entrance to the park office. This is 1 day shortest of the latest record I have for the shoreline. The latest is 5-16-99.

Hooded Oriole - 2 seen after 6:30 PM in the trees along Frank's Dump East.

    Good birding
