    Hi all:

I ran into Bob Richmond at the west end of Winton Ave
tonight. Bob had seen 4 Black Terns and a Pectoral
Sandpiper in Hayward Marsh earlier, so I scooted out
there to see what I could see. The Pectoral Sandpiper
had vamoosed. The 4 BLACK TERNS were beautiful and 50%
closer than last week, and the wind wasn't howling
    either.

Hayward Marsh is about equidistant from the Hayward
Interp Center adjacent to Hwy 92, and the Winton Ave
staging area off of Hwy 880.
The middle ponds have a shell-strewn island where
Least Terns nest, and the occasional Snowy Plover can
    be seen.

A good map showing trails and distances can be found
at ebparks.org and then searching for Hayward Reg.
    Shoreline in the maps section.

    Good birding,
