    Hi Birders,

At 5 pm today, I had a CANYON WREN singing down in the canyon below the road
at the MM 13 pullout (the "13" is painted on the pavement at this spot).
While I was waiting around for the CANW to sing again (and maybe catch a
glimpse -- yeah, right!), a male Townsend's Warbler flew into an oak tree right in
front of me. I was following the progress of the TOWA, when it flew a couple
trees north in the company of two other birds. I followed them up the road
and found a stunning male HERMIT WARBLER and a Wilson's Warbler. Also
foraging in the oaks along the road were two silent Warbling Vireos and a female
Townsend's Warbler. The Canyon Wren sang and called on and off for the hour
and a quarter that I was in the area, but I never did get a look at it.

Earlier in the afternoon, maybe around 1:30, I had a Prairie Falcon flying
near MM 11.93 (a Big Year nemesis bird put to rest).

Just goes to show you don't have to get up at the freakin' crack of dawn to
get good birds -- can you tell I'm not a morning person? :-)

    Good birding,
