The following was seen at the shoreline today -

Cackling Goose - 1 flew south past Winton Ave. What probably was the same bird was seen 4 hours later as it flew south from the bay near the Radio Tower Hills.

Red Knot - hundreds at Frank's Dump West.

Wilson's Phalarope - 2 at Frank's Dump West are the first I have seen here this year. I have only seen them earlier in 1991, 1992, 1993, and 1995.

Least Tern - 12 at Frank's Dump West.

Black Tern - 4 over the west most ponds of Hayward Marsh. To get here take the trail from the Interpretive Center to the bay. Just to the north of here (up to Cogswell Marsh) these ponds are to the east, behind a fence. While there is no public access to these ponds, the Black Terns were visible from the public trail. At about 1:30 PM, Peter and Brian saw 22 Black Terns in this area.

    Ash-throated Flycatcher - 1 at Winton Ave.

Cedar Waxwing - 8 at Winton Ave.

Swainson's Thrush - 2 at Winton Ave. were the first I have seen here this year.

Warbling Vireo - 1 at Winton Ave.

MacGillivray"s Warbler - 1 at Winton Ave. is the first I have seen here this year.

Western Tanager - 2 at Winton Ave.

    Black-headed Grosbeak - 1 at Winton Ave.

    Good birding
