This last week has been a time of leaving and arrival
in our little garden --we are located in the far back
of the Refugio Valley area of Hercules. Our local gang
(6-8)of Golden-crowned Sparrows left us for parts
unknown (where do they really go?.) A pair of
California Quail are now visiting the ground under our
seed feeder on a daily basis (a first for us--we hear
them but they usually stay off in the brush)and two
Hooded Orioles (male and female arrived 4/1 this
year)have been joined at the sugar water feeder by
another-- less chatty-- female. This is also the first
year I have noticed a pair of Spotted Towhees using
our small fountain for a bird bath--fun!
