Friends: Yesterday (Saturday, 4/19/08), I joined Jeffrey Black and friends
for a walk down Rifle Range Road and into Wildcat Canyon Regional Park. We
heard, then saw, Ash-throated Flycatcher, Lazuli Bunting (in his usual spot
at the bottom, near the bridge and the intersection with the Havey Canyon
and Conlon Trails), Black-headed Grosbeak, Warbling Vireo (heard, not seen),
Purple Finch, Wilson Warbler, Orange-crowned Warbler (heard, not seen),
Spotted Towhee, Anna's Hummingbird (one on a nest near the bridge, to the
north on a horizontal alder branch), Red-tail and Cooper's Hawks, an
unidentfied Accipter-type that requires more research, lots of Cedar
Waxwings, a cormorant overhead (probably the usual suspect but too high to
    tell),
Chestnut-backed Chickadee, Bewick's Wren (heard, not seen), Wrentit (heard,
not seen), American and Lesser Goldfinchs, California Towhee, and
    White-crowned Sparrow (heard, not seen).

BTW, can some please tell me if Malcolm Sproul will be doing a Grasshopper
Sparrow search this year and when? Thank you.

    Best of birds!
