Today at 3pm, there was a MUTE SWAN at the Pleasanton Fresh Water Dentention Ponds. I wonder if this is the same bird reported in May of last year by Richard Cimino?

This brings my total to 58 species since last November when I began to stop at these small, birdy ponds on my way to and from work. Also of note on the islands right now are nesting Mallards, Canada Geese, Killdeer, and Black-necked Stilts. Two Avocets have been at the ponds for the past two weeks, so perhaps they'll also be nesting soon.

The ponds are located off the Bernel exit from hwy 680. Go east to the first right turn onto Valley Avenue. Then about 1/2 mile to a right turn onto Laguna Creek Lane.
