Finally, after hearing male BH grosbeaks for weeks and the female
this past week, I finally saw the first one in our yard yesterday. A
beautiful male at the sunflower chip feeder. I've never been able to
figure out how such a colorful bird can be so hard to see in the
trees. There is also lots of courtship activity among the Bewick's
wrens, Stellar jays and doves. I'm also observing bushtits
collecting spider webs from the crevices of houses and from shrubs.
I assume nest building is in process nearby. I just love spring.
