Mixed in with the expected Cliff and Northern Rough-winged Swallows over the
cement pond today, were several White-throated Swifts. They were flying
low, about eye height at times, swooping to hit the water occasionally.

Later, I saw one over the creek behind the 7 Hills School. I was on the
bicycle trail bridge over the creek. The Cliff Swallows nest under this
bridge. The Swift did not seem to fly under the bridge as the swallows do.

Also in the park this morning, were two Green Herons. One has yellow legs,
the other has legs which are so orange they are almost red.

Looking out of its nest near the bottom of the big hill was one of the
Nuttall's Woodpecker chicks. A group of walkers found this interesting.

Heather Farm Park is in Walnut Creek off Ygnacio Valley Road.
