The following was seen at the shoreline today -

Red-throated Loon - 1 seen on the bay from the mouth of San Lorenzo Creek.

Cackling Goose - 100 on the Radio Tower Hills.

Barrow's Goldeneye - 1 male seen at Frank's Dump West. This time of year it is duck habitat not shorebird habitat.

Lesser Yellowlegs - 1 in Ora Loma Marsh. This is the first one I have seen in March since 3-29-1999.

Rufous Hummingbird - 1 male at Winton Ave. It was in the second Eucalyptus tree in from the gate to the EBRPD parking lot.

Allen's Hummingbird - 2 males in the same area.

Selasphorus sp. hummingbird - 2 or 3 females in the same area.

Violet-green Swallow - 1 or 2 seen from Winton Ave at the same time Bob Dunn saw 1 from Mt. Trashmore. I only have 3 Jan. and Feb. records.

Rough-winged Swallow - 1 over the flood control channel that goes under Winton Ave. just before the EBRPD parking lot.

Cliff Swallow - 2 seen with Bob Dunn over the Winton Ave. Parking area. This is the earliest I have seen a migrant at the shoreline.

Tree Swallows and Barn Swallows were also commonly seen on the day, especially Tree. Most of the swallows appeared to be migrating.

Lesser Goldfinch - 2 in the trees across Winton Ave. from the Park Office. I have only seen them 3 other times fron Jan. through July.

Lapland Longspur - 1 seen near the usual area.

    Good birding
