Today at 5 pm, I went looking for the Black Scoter
that was reported earlier and found it, a lifer. It
never came close to shore, but I was able to snap a
few photos of it. One feature I found very
interesting about this bird was how far back its lower
beak extends and how wide it can open it while it was
handlind a small bivalve. Below is a link to the
    photo.
I observed the Black Scoter from Lucretia Edwards
Shoreline Park, 1500 Marina Way South.
Besides the more common birds at the marina, there
were two Common Loons and the Red-thraoted Loon.
