    Wandered down to the lake this afternoon to scope things out for the 
    GGAS walk tomorrow, and walked up behind what appeared to be a bird with 
    the body of a Canada Goose, a snow-white head and neck, and a brilliant 
    yellow bill - all in proportion. Then, of course, the grazing goose took 
    another coupla steps, revealing the alert Western Gull standing on the 
    far side... but it had me going for a while there.
    
    Except for the goldeneyes, most of the winter visitors are still there - 
    with the Ruddy Ducks and Eared Grebes coming into their mating plumage. 
    The Tufted Duck is still at the nature center.
