[EBB Sightings] AC Big Year Birds

Hi Birders,

I managed to get a couple of  hours off work this afternoon, so I went 
looking to add some new birds to my  year list.  My plan was to concentrate on 
"forest birds", so I went up to  Joaquin Miller Park in Oakland.

New for my Big Year list were PYGMY  NUTHATCH, RED-BREASTED NUTHATCH, VARIED 
THRUSH, HUTTON'S VIREO, and HAIRY  WOODPECKER (a pair).  I believe the PYNU is 
also new for the composite  list.  All of these birds were seen near the 
Sequoia Arena off of Skyline  Blvd.

Two hoped-for species, PILEATED WOODPECKER and BAND-TAILED PIGEON  were not 
found, but I have had both of those birds in this area in the  past.
