I refound the sapsucker first seen yesterday along the Loop Road in
the Tilden Nature Area, in the same tree. This is the largest
eucalyptus just NW of the Loop Road/Sylvan Trail intersection. The
bird was less cooperative today, working holes higher in the tree and
in heavier foliage. And it disappeared shortly after it was first
seen. However, the sides of the extensively red throat appear bordered
essentially entirely by white, rather than framed in black. I believe
this is a strong indication that it is a Red-naped Sapsucker.

Nonetheless, further observations would be welcome!!
