If I saw a wild turkey that was white or had significant white feathering, I
would suspect that somewhere in the bird's ancestry is a domestic turkey.
Possible? I don't know much about the origins and overall movements of the
turkeys that in recent decades have seemingly taken over large areas of
rural (and urban!) California. When I started birding back in the late
1960's "wild" turkeys were quite localized in California. Now they are
everywhere. Could some of these more newly introduced birds have been
    wild/domestic hybrids?
