I've stopped at Coyote Hills early in the morning three times
    during the last week.

The Blue-Gray Gnatcatcher continues in the low bushes west
of the ramada at the southwest corner of the old quarry
parking lot. It has been there since early October.

The trees along the east side of the old quarry parking
lot now appear to be part of the regular range of a Loggerhead
Shrike. The Shrike isn't there continuously, but appears to
show up for 5 or 10 minutes a couple of times each hour.

For years, I've had a difficult time finding Shrikes that
would come close enough for good photos. This bird seems
accustomed to light pedestrian traffic and stays close enough
to offer great views and photo ops.

    Pix are at:

The Shrike seems to be having an ongoing dispute with a Say's
Phoebe that has been foraging each morning in the same area.
Pix of the Phoebe are at the same URL.
