My third attempt to find the tropical kingbird paid
off between 9:00 and 10:00 this morning with the bird
on the overhead wires to the right of the road just as
I reached the first parking area at the end of West
Winton Avenue - great views through the moonroof. The
bird flew to the chain link fence on the west side of
the parking lot and took on a starling; they both flew
down into the bushes next to the park building, and
then the kingbird flew east to perch on its favorite
wires between the two poles near the drainage outlet
on the channel. The bird never stayed in one place for
long, perching sometimes on the wires and sometimes in
the trees behind (east) or north of the channel (areas
which can also be driven to). Thank you to Alex for a
much better photo than the blur I was able to get.
