I saw one male Tufted Duck at Lake Merritt at 9:40am this morning. It was
conveniently located between the Rotary Nature Center and the closest island
about 3 feet from the water's edge.

Many other water birds were present including:

Barrow's Goldeneyes (2 males near the islands)
Ruddy Ducks
Scaup (hundreds)
Canvasbacks (2 male near the islands)
Buffleheads (dozens)
Western Grebes (6)
Pied-billed Grebes
Eared Grebes
American Coots (hundreds)

It is a very birdy day.
