A Ferruginous Hawk was perched on the ground in the open field along Cushing Parkway south of Automall Parkway in Fremont at around 10:00 am this morning 11/13/07. It was about 75 yards from the road along the elevated causeway, on the east side of the street. There were also hundreds of Canada Geese in the fields as well. There is no stopping along that stretch of road, but I was able to make a U-turn and stop long enough to take a look with binoculars before having to move for an appointment. This area is undeveloped pasture (with cows) that is marked as part of the Don Edwards National Wildlife Refuge.

      Good Birding,
