While strolling Huckleberry Preserve in the Oakland
Hills a couple of days ago, I heard an unfamiliar
raptor cry. Despite the poor visibilty where I stood,
the cries were approaching my position, so I waited at
a break in the canopy to see what might fly by.

Much to my surprise, it was a squabbling pair of
peregrines, my first ever sighting at that location.
They untangled and winged swiftly overhead, close
enough for me to see their facial markings. Sweet.
They were headed West to the Bay. Hope they are not
    planning on dining on shorebirds.
