Yesterday, an active merlin (taiga) provided good photo-ops along the fence on the east side of Byron Hot Springs Road. just south of its intersection with Holey Road. The bird also gave great aerial displays, sometimes in the company a pair of northern harriers.

Today, a merlin (possibly the same bird) was perching and hunting on the east side of N. Bruns Way-- across the field from yesterday's sighting. It was much shyer, as was a merlin seen later in the vicinity of the intersection of Falcon Way and Armstrong road (again, possiubly the same bird, but it seemed larger).

A barn owl was roosting in the dense low trees on the west side of Falocon Way-- probably the same owl I've seen there previously.

On both days, two ferruginous hawks (possibly last year's two) occupied the pasture on the north side of Byron Hot Springs Road, west of the intersection with Holey Road and the pasture between Byron Hot Springs Road and N. Bruns Way. They did not spend much time in tjhe air.
