I'm planning on taking a trip out to the Mines Road area on Saturday. I have Kempers' Birding Northern California as a guide, but I was wondering if anyone on the listserv has any further tips on birding the area. I'm most especially interested in any recent sightings of the following species:

    Lewis' Woodpecker
    Phainopepla
    California Thrasher
    Black-Throated Gray Warbler
White Throated Swifts (Kemper says I can find them at Lake Del Valle - still true?)
    Says Phoebe
    Burrowing Owl
    Rock and Canyon Wrens

I was interested in the recent "Big Day" posting regarding the Burrowing Owl and Says Phoebe at "Owl Road" but couldn't find an Owl Road on Google Maps. If possible, I'd love directions.

Thanks so much! This will probably be my only chance to head out to Mines Road so I'm hoping to make the best of it!
