This morning I was standing at the guest room window, wishing for a
fancy warbler to migrate through our shrubbery . . . when a BLUE-GRAY
GNATCATCHER appeared in the Box Elder. In less than a minute it moved
to the Redwood, then flew over the house and disappeared to the south.
Though not totally new for the neighborhood (I saw one in Dec. 1996 near
Hiller Highlands, and another this past summer on the ridge across the
canyon), it's definitely new - and unexpected - for my yard. The yard
total since June 1993 now stands at 107.
