    Hi everyone,
     
    I know it's hard to get excited about Willets, but
    today I found at least 3300 roosting with hundreds of
    Marbled Godwits, Black-Necked Stilts, American
    Avocets, and a single Whimbrel near the fishing pier
    at Don Edwards NWR in Fremont. 
     
    >From the parking lot for the fishing pier, the
    Shoreline Trail goes north (beneath the Dumbarton
    bridge). Just past the bridge there's a small island
    on the east side of the trail. This has been a good
    spot in the past for roosting shorebirds, but I've not
    seen numbers quite this high before.
     
    The list as submitted to eBird for the area near the
    fishing pier (and the drive out and back) is attached
    below.
