Yesterday our backyard birding was quite interesting. Early in the
morning a juvenile Cooper's Hawk flew into the yard and perched in
our neighbor's redwood tree, only to be harassed by several Anna's
Hummingbirds which apparently caused it to make a quick departure.
The Warbling Vireo returned to our bird bath frequently and drank
from the dripper. We had really good looks, even a scope view. In
addition, a female Selasphorus hummingbird was a frequent visitor to
the feeders, and today she was joined by a male Allen's Hummingbird
so we are assuming that she is a female Allen's. With temperatures
at 100+ degrees here, we have concentrated on our backyard which has
    provided some good visitors.

    Good birding,
    Paul and Nancy Schorr, Antioch
