    EBB-

What is the best way to get out to the Emeryville Cresent? This evening between 5-7:30, there were hundreds of birds feeding as the tide was going out. I stopped along the on-ramp from the Albany Bulb to West 80 before the bridge, which is dangerous. There were numerous Red-Necked Phalaropes feeding in the water along the road, as well as a large flock of Red-Necked Stilts, Marbled Godwits, Willets, Whimbrels, and Dowitchder spp. Getting off at the Grand Ave exit before you get onto the bridge, then taking the frontage road afforded a good view of the mudflats, but I didn't have my scope. Even so, there were hundreds of Least Terns, as well as 12 other spp of shorebirds feeding.

Is there a safer and easier way to view this area? Can you walk out at any point? It's quite a sight.
