[EBB Sightings] Western Tanager

Dear Birders:

Another sure sign of the changing seasons -- along with the noticeable
shortening of the days -- is the appearance of migrating Western
Tanagers.  Yesterday I heard the double call note of a Western Tanager
in the eucalyptus.  (I live two blocks north of Lawrence Hall of
Science in the Berkeley Hills).

While migrating birds are beginning to pass through, the resident
Lesser Goldfinches continue to fledge their young with numbers of them
coming to my feeders and bird baths.
